Sunderland Co-operative Inc. has an opportunity in our Agronomy Division.
We are currently seeking a Seasonal DZ Truck Driver based out of our Oakwood location

This Seasonal position has full-time opportunity and offers mobility within Sunderland Co-op.


RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:


  • Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers
  • Transport water and/or fertilizer to customers fields and farming operations
  • Ensure safe operation of truck, while driving and loading, to transport material to customers
  • Review run sheet listing calls and identify any potential issues to ensure deadlines are met
  • Sequence runs to optimize time (periodically), using a map
  • Park vehicle in designated area(s), maneuver truck into loading and unloading positions
  • Document and log work/rest periods and kilometers spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
  • Find ways to conserve resources, including fuel, to benefit the business
  • Prepare customer orders, picking product, securing on the skid and banding and wrapping according to weather and loading conditions
  • Prepare vehicle for delivery, verifying that all products are securely loaded and protected from the elements and all accompanying paperwork is available
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through reliable service
  • Obtaining necessary receiver signatures once unloaded
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to provide updates related to location and schedule
  • Maintains professionalism at all times and behaves in a manner befitting company policy and expectations
  • Serve as a brand advocate and ambassador in every interaction with clients and the public
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance including documenting daily inspections and ensuring safety equipment, straps and paperwork are in place and perform or communicate preventative maintenance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Work additional hours to meet business demands
  • Be accountable for working safely and ensures that all work is conducted in compliance with health and safety policies and legislation
  • Report any problems, incidents, damage, defects or potential hazards related to health & Safety to management immediately

      BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (required):

      • Must hold a valid ‘DZ’ leveldriver’s license with a clean driver's abstract
      • Must have good knowledge of roadways and traffic patterns and maintain awareness of road restrictions with the ability to source alternative routes
      • Ability to work well underpressure, employing effective decision-making (judgment) under sometimesstressful and unpredictable circumstances (traffic, weather conditions etc.)
      • Possess good communication andinterpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with customers anddispatchers
      • Moderate physical effort isrequired to manually load and unload material, secure load, place crossers andstep on and off forklift
      • Ability to lift 50lbs
      • Must have good knowledge ofroadways and traffic patterns and maintain awareness of road restrictions withthe ability to source alternative routes
      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (desired):
      •  Experience operating heavy equipment
      • Familiarity with agricultural product transport an asset
      • Basic understanding of agricultural products and chemicals
      • Forklift certification
      • Farming background
