Our 2025 Pasture Walk was a great success, with lots of information, good food and great company! This year's event was held at Heritage Cattle Co., in Otonabee, home of the MacDonald Family. In total we had over 90 participants from Peterborough and surrounding counties.
The evening began with the Farms at Work Pasture Walk featuring a "Meet the Farmer" session, where farm owner Aaron MacDonald explained his straight to market grass-fed beef business. Afterwards Pasture Specialist Tim Campbell showcased rotational grazing systems with Gallagher products, and Derek Stanley of Merck Animal Health discussed alternative parasite control options.
Our Local Supper, served by Peterborough County 4-H members, and catered by SKH Catering featured pulled beef on a bun from Heritage Cattle Co, potato salad made with locally sourced potatoes, and Kawartha Dairy milk supplied by Peterborough County Dairy Producers.
Following supper, attendees were split into three groups and rotated through the Sunderland Co-op information stations which included Cattle Handing Systems with Kloosterman Equipment, Pasture Nutrition with Wallenstein Feed & Supply and Ask the Vet with Peterborough Veterinary Services.
In total over $1450 was raised and donated in a 50/50 to Peterborough County 4-H and Farms at Work!
Thank you to our many wonderful event partners:
